Police in Bulenga has busted a serial conman for reportedly robbing money from Automated Teller Machines within the Kampala metropolitan area.

The suspect Ronald Ampurira was nabbed red-handed on Thursday evening at an ATM machine in Bulenga along Kampala-Mityana highway after swapping an ATM Card belonging to one Mulumba.

He had just withdrawn UGX 240.000 and was in possession of 25 ATM cards with different names from multiple banks.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, said the thug has been wanted by police for three months now following accusations of him swapping people’s ATM Cards at teller machines in Wakiso and Kampala.

Onyango said Ampurira operates by hanging around ATM machines targeting clients who are not well conversant on using ATM machines.

Ampurira rushes to the client and acts like he is helping, he then asks you to put in the ATM your pin code which he masters .Its then that he swaps your ATM with a fake one.

Police have charged the suspected thug with theft.
