The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, this afternoon met with His Excellency Mauro Massoni, the Italian Ambassador to Uganda, and Mr. Claudio Sabatino, Vice President Africa Leonardo Aircraft Division.

The meeting, held at the Special Forces Command (SFC) Headquarters in Entebbe, was also attended by senior commanders from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces Air Force.

The CDF and his guests discussed potential areas of bilateral defence and security cooperation.

Although Uganda and Italy have maintained diplomatic relations for years, the signing of a memorandum of understanding on defence cooperation in 2020 significantly enhanced the relationship.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Giulio Michele Girardelli, Deputy Ambassador of Italy to Uganda, and Ms. Romina Grasso, East African Manager for Leonardo Aeronautics.

The engagement with global leaders in aerospace highlights ongoing efforts to modernize and strengthen Uganda’s defence capabilities.
