Chronic Complications Take Away Actress Evelyn Lagu’s Life

Ugandan Artist and actress, Evelyn Nakabira alias Evelyn Lagu has passed away after battling with lengthy multiple chronic complications, Monday, September 18, 2023.

According to Lagu’s son, Freddie Kasavu who confirmed his mother’s death on social media, she succumbed to kidney and heart complications at the age of 41.

Kasavu said that, Lagu has been unwell for about five years, often in and out of hospital.

Reports on social media indicate that, well-wishers and music fans gathered UGX 61 million through a car wash drive in February, 2021, to help foot the kidney transplant costs in Turkey in an effort to save her life.

Preliminary information has it that, Lagu was flown to Turkey to conduct a kidney transplant, however, the process did not take place because the expert doctors recommended that her health status was not suitable to have the procedure carried out. She has been surviving on dialysis up to the time of her demise.

In June 2022, Lagu’s concert dubbed An evening with Evelyn Dinner Concert which was supposed to take place at Muganziwazza Rooftop building in Katwe was cancelled by police. The singer collapsed and was rushed to a nearby hospital following the news of the cancellation of the concert by the Police.NexM
