Dr. Johnson Ngorok has announced his bid for the NRM National Vice Chairperson – Karamoja Region in the Central Executive Committee (CEC).

With decades of service in public health, inclusive development, grassroots engagement and national leadership, Dr. Ngorok insists he has the knowledge, skills and experience of what it takes to serve in this position.

“I hereby offer myself to contribute to the strategic leadership of our party in our shared quest to consolidate the gains of peace, economic transformation and inclusive governance in our beloved country,” he announced.

He added: “My vision is to contribute to strengthening of the CEC’s role in policy-making, ideological orientation of our people and effective oversight to ensure the full realization of the NRM Manifesto 2025–2031 and the transformation of Uganda from a poor rural peasant country into a modern, industrialised and prosperous country.”

Speaking about his leadership style, he said he will “Uphold the NRM Ethos” as articulated in the party’s core policy and strategy documents and will be anchored on the four core principles of NRM: Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, Democracy, and Socio-economic transformation.

“Patriotism will be promoted through focus on community engagement, cultural preservation., civic participation, celebrating national heritage and promoting import substitution through strategies such as Buy Uganda Build Uganda (BUBU) and the skilling programmes for young people.
Pan-Africanism will be promoted through focus on raising awareness on principles of Pan-Africanism, promoting African cultural heritage to inculcate African values and breakdown stereotypes about Africa, celebrating shared African heritage e.g. Ateker Cluster and embracing diversity to foster a sense of unity.
Democracy promotion will entail strengthening democratic institutions, fostering civic education and ensuring accountability, promoting participation of non-state actors such as the media, civil society, youth and women groups in political processes.

Socioeconomic transformation will focus on human capital development, investment in agriculture and manufacturing, strengthening infrastructure to foster a conducive business environment,” he said.

He finalised by calling upon NRM leaders, cadres and patriots at all levels to join him in ensuring a CEC that is visionary, responsive and accountable.
“Together we will steer the NRM party to greater heights and fulfill its promise to Ugandans ,a secure, united, and prosperous country.Vote NRM, vote Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, vote Dr. Johnson Ngorok for a Strategic, Grounded, and Forward-Looking CEC Member,” he concluded.

Dr. Johnson Ngorok is a Medical Doctor and a Public Health Specialist with over 35 years of experience in public health and in managing development projects in health and disability sectors.

He is formerly the Country Director of Sightsavers Uganda, a post he held twice, 1999 to 2002 and 2011 to August 2021. As Country Director (CD), he represented Sightsavers to the Government of Uganda, the bilateral and multilateral agencies and to civil society organisations and provided strategic leadership to the country team in developing the country programme.
Prior to his last assignment as CD, Johnson Ngorok worked at Sightsavers Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya, as Deputy Regional Director for East, Central and Southern Africa. In this role, he was a member of the regional management team that oversaw regional strategy development and overall programme development in the region. He initiated and supported the opening of Sightsavers country offices in Zambia and South Sudan.

Prior to joining Sightsavers, Johnson Ngorok worked with World Vision in three successive roles: Project Manager, Bunyoro Health Care Rehabilitation Project, a World Bank funded project under the Programme for Alleviation of Poverty and Social Costs Adjustment (PAPSCA) whose goal was to restore health service delivery in a region previously cut off from Kampala during the five year Luwero Triangle war; Project Manager, Uganda Child Survival Project, a USAID funded project whose goal was to reduce morbidity and mortality among children aged 1 to 5 years and Health Advisor, World Vision Uganda, responsible for health strategy and health programme development.

Earlier in his career, Johnson Ngorok worked with the Uganda Ministry of Health as a Medical Officer and later as Medical Superintendent of Kaabong District Hospital.
