Prominent Ugandan tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia has issued a public warning regarding a fraudulent account impersonating him on X, formerly Twitter. Mr. Ruparelia, chairman of the Ruparelia Group, stated Wednesday that he does not operate any account on the social media platform. The fake account, using the handle @RupareliaSudhi, has been posting content, which Ruparelia urged the public to disregard as false. “Any communications or posts from that account should be disregarded as fraudulent and misleading,” Ruparelia said in a statement. He advised the public to exercise caution and report the account to X for removal. Several posts from the impostor account were observed in the last weeks.. Ruparelia, 69, is a Ugandan business magnate and investor with holdings in banking, insurance, education, broadcasting, real estate, floriculture, and hotels. Forbes and other sources have estimated his net worth at $1.2 billion, making him one of Uganda’s wealthiest individuals.
