The Electoral Commission (EC) has refuted claims alleging it released a road map for the LC 1, 2, and Women Councils and Committees Elections, 2023.

According to Justice Byabakama Magenyi, the Chairperson of the EC, media houses are circulating a programmeme claiming that it is the approved electoral programmeme, which is not true.

He, however, said that the programme that circulated was an internal leak.

“The Commission has established that the said electoral programme is an internal working document (prototype) that was shared before approval,” Byabakama said.

“This prototype programmeme was for purposes of discussing the proposed durations for the conduct of the said elections and is, therefore, not an approved electoral programmeme,” he added.

Byabakama appealed to political parties and organisations, aspiring candidates, their supporters, and all other stakeholders to ignore the document and wait until the Commission approves and formally releases the electoral programme.
