The National Unity Platform (NUP) party has graduated their first cohort of 103 students from their NUP school of leadership.

While addressing the graduates on November 4, 2024, the chief guest, General (Rtd) Gregory Mugisha Muntu, who doubles as the founding member of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT), hailed NUP on the efforts to carry out leadership training and tasked the graduates to maintain their discipline.

“Individual discipline is key in every struggle, and from individual discipline you get organizational discipline, and this is always key if you want to change the country,” Muntu said.

Muntu also hailed the NUP leadership for starting up a leadership school and asked them to spare more resources and keep it running.

“It is important for us in opposition to invest money and resources to train people from down up to the top, and if they get to know what responsibility they have, then they will be the ones to redeem Uganda,” Muntu added.

The party Secretary General, Lewis Rubongoya, said that the students were trained in different fields, and now they are the ambassadors of change, and they need to go out and train others.

“We have three levels, with level one having six modules, and among the topics trained we had, the art of public communication, constitutional history, leadership with action, among others.

According to Hakim Kamoga, a student and foot soldier, the training was good, and together with his colleagues, he has learned a lot.

“They taught us about the NUP philosophy, the political history of Uganda, and how to be patriotic; they also taught us personal discipline and how you can live with others,” Kamoga said.

The NUP second cohort is open for all members, and applications are still ongoing. Among the students who were awarded certificates, the majority were female and were in three categories: foot soldiers, professionals, and community leaders.nexus
