Fort Portal RCC: “Prioritise Preventive Measures to reduce the Cost of Health Service Provision.”

While addressing participants during the regional Joint Health sector Review Mission at Nyaika Hotel ,the DRCC Fort Portal City Mr Businge Emmanuel called upon health practitioners to emphasize preventive measures that are less costly than the curative in addressing the Health challenges in the region . With that ,the number of people seeking medical attention from the health facilities will reduce drastically and thus address the issue of drug stock outs .

With the prevalence rate of HIV Aids over 17 % far above the national prevalence in the City ,the DRCC rallied participants to share strategies on how the trend can be reduced. He also attributed the prevalence in the City to statistics drawn from the various facilities, including the regional referral that serves the entire region and therefore a concern for all players in the Rwenzori region .

The DRCC further commended the practice of review meetings since they offer an opportunity to account for what has been done and being a ground for improvement in areas that need more attention .

The Government’s commitment to enhance salaries for health workers and improvement of working conditions by upgrading facilities was also re-echoed and, therefore, the need to have effective service delivery to the members of the Public .

The Meeting drew participants from all the Rwenzori region districts including RDCs ,LCVs ,DHOs ,and other Implementing partners like Baylor Uganda ,Enable among others.
