Gen.Busizoori Engages Youths,Leaders To Fight Insecurity In Karamoja

The Joint Security Forces in Karamoja met hundreds of youths and locals from the districts of Nabilatuk, Moroto, Amudat and Napak who had converged in Achegertolim in Nabilatuk Town Council discuss lasting solutions to the insecurity in their communities.

Brigadier General Felix Busizoori, the Deputy Commander of 3 Infantry Division while speaking to them emphasized the spirit of co-existence among different the Karimojong communities.

He assured the youth that the security has forgiven those who were involved in crime and appealed to those still holding fire arms to surrender them to security and be issued with disarmament certificates and benefit from government programs.

He implored the leaders to mobilize the youth to embrace peace and also involve the women in the peace-building.

As a symbol of peace and the on going amnesty, Lokore Lomel from Nasulat Village, Kosike Sub county, Nabilatuk District handed over a gunwith 03 rounds to the Deputy Commander 3 Infantry Division.

On her part, Deputy RDC Napak, Ahmed Faradosa told the youth that they need to embrace peace to allow Government focus on priority areas like road construction, water, education, health among other areas.

She noted that, what is fueling raids is revenge and urged security to act swiftly in recovering stollen cows to mitigate revenge in communities.

Local Council 5 Chairperson Nabilatuk, Hon Paul Lokol, noted that there has been a number of resolutions made in effort to achieve total peace and called upon leaders at different levels to preach peace in their communities.

Ms Natuk Judith, a Karacuna Mobiliser encouraged joint grazing amongst the communities adding that it will rule out the possibility of carrying out raids and bridges the gap between the conflicting communities.
