Generous: Mukasa Mbidde Foundation Donates Relief Food To Masaka Covid-19 Task Force

The Masaka District Covid-19 taskforce has hailed Mukasa Mbidde Foundation for donating relief food to the badly off and needy people of Masaka Municipality.

Mukasa Mbidde foundation gave a relief of at least two tons of maize and two lorries of bananas to be distributed to the communities in Nyendo-Ssenyange division.

Three divisions make up Masaka municipality and accommodates thousands of underprivileged persons that live in the slums.

The Masaka Resident District Commissioner Herman Ssentongo who is also the chairperson of the district COVID-19 taskforce, thanked Hon.Fred Mukasa Mbidde for the generous heart and for rescuing starving residents.
“I want to thank Hon. Mbidde for hearing the reports from leaders about the severity of the food crisis as a result of the lockdown and you decided to donate generously” he said.

Moses Ssekiwala, the LCI Chairperson for Kitaka cell says that the area comprises of women-headed families who are currently struggling to afford even a meal a day.

He explains that many people in the area are largely dependent on daily earnings from petty jobs.

Ssentongo said the task force has now resolved to give out food rations so far collected from well-wishers, to support the starving families in Nyendo.

He revealed that in addition to about three tons of maize flour from individuals and companies, the task force has also received Bananas from a local hotel operator.
Most of the residents criticized their current area member of Parliament Mathias Mpuuga of neglecting them in this coronavirus lockdown.
Foundation chairperson Hon.Mukasa Mbidde promised to support and work with the people of Masaka municipality until they kick out Covid-19 and other problems out of their city.
