Grief As 24-yr-Old Rwandan Is Killed By Rolling Stone In Kisoro

A 24-year-old Rwandan National has been killed by a rolling stone in Kisoro District, Police in the Kigezi sub-region has confirmed.

The deceased identified as Nyabinoni Eria alias Mfitimukiza who is a native of Rwandan origin and a residence of Nyagashinge village, in Northern Division, Kisoro municipality.

The incident happened on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at about 11:30 am in Chahi village, Nyagasinge ward in the same district.

Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, Elly Maate said that Nyabinoni was hit by a huge rolling stone that broke his left leg, rolled over him, and killed him instantly.

He explains that the incident happened at Burihira village where the deceased was carrying out quarrying activities in the stone quarry

“By the time of the unfortunate incident, the victim never had protective gears while carrying out quarrying activities” Maate explained in a press statement.

The police team led by the district CID officer, Soco, and others visited the scene and recorded Statements from eyewitnesses to investigate the death of Nyabinoni.

The deceased’s body was retrieved and taken to Kisoro hospital for postmortem.
