The Uganda Police Force is mourning the death of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Namande Henrietta Mwese, a staff officer in the Press and Public Relations Department, who died following antenatal complications.

ASP Namande reportedly developed complications at Bisimillah Clinic in Natete while on her way to hospital for further medical attention.

According to SSP Nandawula Diana, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Namande had served as a staff officer in the Police Press and Public Relations Unit since December 2005.

She joined the Uganda Police Force on January 29, 2005, as a Probation Police Constable (PPC) and underwent 11 months of training at the Police Training School (PTS) in Masindi.

Upon completion of her training, she was posted to Police Headquarters, where she served in the Public Relations/Press Unit.

The Police Force has since released a tentative programme for her send-off.

The programme started on Saturday, September 12, 2026, with Mass at 5pm, followed by a vigil at her home in Mutundwe-Kisigula.
On Sunday, September 13, the body was expected to be brought from the funeral home to her residence in Mutundwe-Kisigula, where Mass was scheduled for 5pm, followed by a vigil.

On Monday, September 14, another Mass will be held at 5pm at her home, followed by a vigil.

On Tuesday, September 15, the body will leave her residence at 8am for burial in Kiteredde-Kirema Village, Kirema Parish, Semuto Sub-county in Nakaseke District.

The burial programme is scheduled to begin at midday and continue until late.
ASP Namande’s death has left colleagues in the Police Press and Public Relations Department mourning a long-serving officer who spent more than two decades serving in the Uganda Police Force.
