The National Resistance Movement (NRM) village and sub-county registrars in Rwenzori have received a stern warning against accepting bribes and political interference during the party register update exercise commencing on Wednesday.

The NRM Party will start the display and update of the party register nationwide from Wednesday, March 13th, to Sunday, March 17th, 2024.

The delivery of materials for the exercise, including the yellow books, has been completed in the districts.

The NRM commissioner Hon Jane Alisemera Babiiha who is traversing the region warned against the possibility of politicians attempting to manipulate registrars to register individuals from other areas or non- Party members into the NRM register to influence election outcomes for specific candidates in primaries or for potential misuse of party cards in the future.

Hon Alisemera emphasized the importance of registrars following the guidelines and guidance of National Party Chairman Yoweri Museveni during the register updates.

Patrick Kamulindwa ,the Kabarole District NRM Registrar affirmed readiness for the exercise with a caution to sub county and villager registrars against accepting bribes and aligning with interests of politicians instead of adhering to the stipulated guidelines for the exercise .

Sam Magezi Apuuli the kyenjojo NRM Chairman, highlighted that a flawed register can lead to vote rigging and conflicts, underscoring the need for vigilance among registrars during the update process.

Hon Alisemera who is overseeing the exercise in the entire region will tomorrow be hosted on life fm at 7PM to expound more on how registration will move on in the whole country.
