The Inspector General of Government (IGG) has lauded the Internal Security organization leadership for being among the leading partners in the fight against corruption in Uganda.

This was revealed by the Deputy IGG, Dr. Patricia Achan Okiria while delivering a lecture to ISO trainees at Entebbe on the 22nd September 2022.

Dr. Achan who was received by the Deputy Director General ISO, Lt Col Emmy Katabazi noted that corruption was a very big strategic bottleneck to Uganda’s desired socio-economic transformation hence the need for concerted efforts.

She also took the trainees through the leadership code and enjoined them to guard against corruption warming that while ISO is a partner in the war against corruption, the IGG will not hesitate to investigate individual officers who abuse the leadership code.

ISO Anti-graft trainees

A few years ago, HE Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni empowered the anti-corruption agencies under his office to take on all civil servants and ensure that service delivery is received by the wanaichi.

Both SH-ACU and ISO have busted the corrupt networks by working in tandem in the pursuit of justice which helps the Inspectorate of Government (IGG) whose mandate helps them to keep a check on the civil servants especially the corrupt at the local government level.

It should be noted that the ISO Anti-Corruption unit has intensively combed the country to ensure an effective inter-institutional cooperation as a way of raising awareness on the security risks against the government beyond the normal – terrorism and alike that can be dealt with militarily.
