The Tooro Kingdom has appealed for prayers and calm following confirmation that Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV is in critical condition.

In a statement issued on Thursday, August 27, 2026, the Tooro Kingdom Prime Minister, Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki, said the Kingdom was facing a difficult moment and asked the public to stand with the monarch and the Royal Family in prayer.

Rwomiire called on the people of Tooro, Ugandans and other well-wishers to remain hopeful and offer their support during the challenging period.

He also cautioned members of the public against spreading rumours or unverified reports about the King’s health, saying the situation had understandably caused anxiety among the Kingdom’s subjects and other concerned people.

The Prime Minister urged the public to exercise restraint and respect the privacy of King Oyo and the Royal Family, adding that any further developments would be communicated through the Kingdom’s official channels.

Authorities did not disclose the nature of the King’s illness or reveal where he is receiving medical attention.

King Oyo ascended to the Tooro throne as a young child in 1995 following the death of his father, King Patrick David Matthew Kaboyo Olimi III.

He later took on the full responsibilities of leading the Kingdom after reaching adulthood.

The announcement comes amid increasing public concern and speculation about the monarch’s health.

The Kingdom has asked the public to rely on official information and avoid circulating unconfirmed claims as medical personnel continue to attend to the King.

The Tooro Kingdom has appealed to all people of goodwill to keep King Oyo in their prayers during this difficult time.
