The family of Ryan Kubahika, a fourth-year Law student at the Uganda Christian University, is mourning his sudden death after he reportedly developed breathing difficulties on Friday evening.

Ryan, 22, was the son of Bruno Tumwesigye, a police officer attached to INTERPOL.

According to a statement released by the family, Ryan had been in good health for most of the day before he was discovered experiencing breathing complications while at a friend’s hostel room near the university campus in Mukono.

He was immediately rushed to nearby health facilities for medical attention. However, efforts by medical personnel to save his life were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at around 9:00 p.m.

The family described Ryan as a calm, loving, and cheerful young man who always wore a smile and had a promising future ahead of him.
“We have lost a young soul with a great future ahead of him,” the family said in a message shared with friends and relatives.

A postmortem examination is expected to be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.

News of Ryan’s passing has shocked fellow students, friends, and members of the legal fraternity, many of whom have taken to social media to express their condolences and share memories of the young law student.

The family has thanked the public for the overwhelming support, prayers, and messages of comfort received during this difficult period.

Burial arrangements and the funeral programme are expected to be communicated by the family in due course.

Ryan Kubahika’s death comes as a painful loss to his family, friends, and the university community, who remember him as a respectful and bright young man with aspirations of a successful legal career.
