COLLEAGUES: This morning’s brutal news of Rajiv Ruparelia’s death in a car accident in Kampala is a reality that is hard to accept!

Rajiv was more than a friend, we were brothers. He embodied the spirit of a generation. Our paths converged in a shared pursuit of a better Uganda. His radical soul refused to accept the status quo, always pushing boundaries and challenging us to dream bigger. Whether in the courtroom, the boardroom, or the streets, Rajiv’s presence was a catalyst for change.

I will always cherish the nights we spent laughing, arguing, dreaming moments now tinged with the aching silence of his absence. A friend of the Bar and a pillar of our community, Rajiv’s energy was a spark that ignited every space he entered.

As we bid farewell to this extraordinary soul, let us honour his memory by carrying forward his work. Let us fight for safer roads, and for the just and vibrant world he envisioned. To the Ruparelia family, we offer our deepest condolences, respecting your privacy in this difficult time.

Rest in power, dear Rajiv. The torch is ours now.
