Police in Kabalagala have registered a case of suspected murder following the death of Matovu Moses, a musician with the renowned Afrigo Band.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala, Moses was allegedly attacked by unknown assailants on the morning of Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Kibuli Market Zone B in Makindye Division, Kampala.

Kawala said the musician was rushed to Kibuli Hospital for medical attention after the alleged attack but later succumbed to the injuries he had sustained.
“Our task team is currently at the scene conducting investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident,” Kawala said.

Police have since launched investigations into the incident as detectives work to establish what happened before, during and after the alleged attack.

Efforts are also underway to identify and apprehend the suspected assailants.

Police said further details will be released as investigations progress.

The death of Moses comes as a shock to fans and members of Uganda’s music fraternity, particularly those who have followed the long-standing contribution of Afrigo Band to Uganda’s music industry.

Police have urged anyone with information that could help investigators establish the circumstances surrounding the musician’s death to come forward.
