Just In: M7 Appoints Hon. Jacklet, Fr Lokodo, Crispin Kaheru UHRC Commissioners

President Yoweri Museveni has appointed former Ethics and Integrity Minister, Hon Fr. Simon Lokodo as a commissioner for Uganda Human Rights Commission.

UHRC remained incomplete after the death of former chair person Med Kaggwa. He collapsed in his car, moments after leaving his home in Mulago, on the outskirts of Kampala.

He was moments later rushed to Case Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Ever since that time several Key positions have been vacant.

Gen Museveni has also appointed former coordinator for Citizens’ Coalition for Electoral Democracy in Uganda (CCEDU), Crispin Kaheru, Hon. Jacklet Atuhaire and former Kampala Woman MP aspirant Shifra Lukwago.

Mariam wangadya has been selected as the new chairperson of the commission.

All the nominees of UHRC are slated to be vetted by the Parliamentary Appointments Committee this week.

“The Appointments Committee is scheduled to interact with these presidential nominees on Wednesday August,25, 2021 at 10am in the conference hall , parliament house,” a notice by the new clerk to parliament, Adolf Mwesigwa dated August 23,2021.
