President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Mr. Arthur Mugyenyi as the new Director General of the Internal Security Organisation (ISO), replacing the late Brigadier Charles Oluka.

In the same announcement, President Museveni named Mr. Tony Kinyera Apecu as the Deputy Director General of ISO, while Col. Emmy Katabazi has been appointed as Deputy Ambassador.

Mugyenyi’s appointment comes at a critical time when the country continues to strengthen its security and intelligence framework. His vast experience in security and intelligence is expected to enhance ISO’s operational effectiveness in addressing national and regional security concerns.

Brigadier Oluka, whom Mugyenyi replaces, passed away recently, leaving a significant leadership gap at ISO. His tenure was marked by efforts to streamline internal security operations and enhance intelligence gathering to safeguard Uganda’s national interests.

Mugyenyi, an experienced security professional, is expected to continue these efforts and work closely with his deputy, Tony Kinyera Apecu, to further bolster Uganda’s internal security mechanisms.

Meanwhile, Col. Emmy Katabazi, formerly the Deputy DG ISO, has been assigned to a new diplomatic role as Deputy Ambassador, reflecting the government’s trust in his leadership abilities beyond internal security.

The appointments are part of President Museveni’s ongoing efforts to strengthen key security and diplomatic institutions in Uganda. The newly appointed officials are expected to assume their roles with immediate effect.
