Just In : NRM Tribunal Nullifies Sodo Kaguta’s Mawogoola North Win

National Resistance Movement tribunal handling elections disputes has disqualified Aine Kaguta Brother alias Sodo’s win as NRM Flag Bearer for Mawogoola North following a petition by Shartis Kutesa, daughter of Foreign Afairs Minister Sam Kutesa.

In a tight election last month, Sodo polled 17,343 votes against Shartsi Kutesa’s 16,104 votes whereas Salim Kisekka got 4274 votes.

Sodo was announced the winner of elections beating  his closest rival by 1,239 votes.

Ms Shartsi Kutesa later on,appealed to the NRM tribunal to cancel the results citing irregularities,voter bribery and intimidation.

While delivering the ruling,NRM tribunal discovered that  there were incidents of violence and ferrying of voters and that votes in some areas.

Tribunal recommended NRM top leadership to find a lasting solution after highlighting that elections were marred by irregularities.
