The Kibuli Muslim sect has announced Sheikh Muhammad Galabuzi as the new Supreme Mufti replacing  Sheikh Kasule Ndirangwa.

The newly appointed Mufti will officially take on his duties this coming Friday.

He will be deputized by Sheikh Ibrahim Ntanda and Sheikh Mahad Kakooza.

The Kibuli-based Muslim faction spokesperson, Dr Muhammad Kiggundu, revealed that three appointed Sheikhs will be unveiled Friday after prayers.

“Sheikh Galabuzi has a befitting character for the person of the Supreme Mufti of Uganda. ,” he said.

The council of eminent Sheikhs at the Kibuli hill, the administrative seat of the faction, started searching for the next Supreme Mufti .

Ndirangwa quit unexpectedly, saying it was good for Islam because he didn’t want to have a tug-of-war with his superiors.

Sheikh Galabuzi has the ear of Prince Kassim Nakibinge, who calls the shots at the Kibuli Mosque, where the office of the Supreme Mufti is.

Sheikh Ndirangwa resigned as Supreme Mufti in April, 2021
