The Kamuli District Local Council V Chairman, Maxwell Kuwembula, has died following a tragic road accident that occurred on Wednesday morning in Nakifuma along the Nakifuma-Kayunga road.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, the fatal crash took place near the Ministry of Water and Environment offices in Nakifuma, close to the Nakifuma Trust Medical Center.

Police reports indicate that Kuwembula, who was driving a white Toyota Hilux Double Cabin registration number UG 699M, was en route to Kamuli from Kampala when his vehicle rammed into a stationary yellow Hacman truck with registration number UBR 835K, which was parked along the roadside.

Tragically, Kuwembula died instantly, with his body discovered trapped in the mangled wreckage of his official vehicle. The driver of the truck reportedly fled the scene, and his identity remains unknown.

Police officers from Naggalama Police Division swiftly responded to the incident and have launched investigations to determine the full circumstances that led to the crash. Efforts to locate the truck driver are underway.

Kuwembula had served as Kamuli District chairman since 2021 and was widely recognized for his dedication to service and community development. His death marks a significant loss for the people of Kamuli and the broader Busoga region.
