KCCA Starts Skilling Campaign To Uplift Youth Out Of Poverty

The Kampala Capital City Authority ‘KCCA’ director in charge Gender,Community Services and Production Shiela Birungi has launched a youth campaign in Kabalaga, Makindye division in a bid to curb unemployment and transform livelihoods.

KCCA says that so far more than 700 youth have benefited in this project in employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.

The youth have been sensitized on financial literacy skills and have been supported in businesses which include;saloons, Tailoring, Boutique, Restaurants,Day Care Center,book making, Coffee Shop, dry cleaning and laundry services, Embroidery, Photography and Videography.

Recently,the Minister of Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs Hajat Minsa Kabanda on November 24, flagged off one youth stop center in Kabalaga with the aim of fighting unemployment and making youth useful by skilling and equipping them with practical knowledge in Work readiness Skills.

The youth who have been trained were given start-up kits for their business venture.

KCCA says that they are targeting mindset by skilling youth with technical skills will transform society.
The youth have started earning some income are encouraged to embrace a saving culture if they are to develop.
