Police in Kisoro has arrested and detained one Munyaribanje Richard, an adult of 30 years, resident of Bunagana T/Council, who was found in possession of wild life species of Elephant Ivory weighing 43kgs.

The suspect was arrested yesterday following a tip off from a concerned citizen in Bunagana town council.

1989, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) banned trade in ivory and other elephant products following the massive killing of elephants in Africa.

It is not yet clear though, where the suspect got this ivory.

Inquiries on how he acquired the ivory will continue.
