The two had gone to Rugusuulu trading centre to arrest a suspected robber Deo Tumusiime. Ms Jane Rwansande, one of the eyewitnesses, noted that Olweny knocked on Tumusiime’s house as Luwaga who was armed with an AK47 rifle kept watch from a distance. “As soon as Tumusiime opened the door, Olweny held him by the trouser prompting a scuffle. The suspect overpowered the policeman and pushed him to the ground,” she said. Ms Rwansande explained that in a bid to stop the scuffle, Luwaga fired a bullet on the ground which instantly killed Olweny. The bullet penetrated Olweny’s chest and also injured the suspect on the arm.
