Lt Col Kakurungu Takes Over Office As UPDF Spokesperson

Brig Flavia Byekwaso, the Defence and Army spokesman, has delegated her duties to her deputy, Lt Col Ronald Kakurungu.

She has handed over all her office duties as she prepares to attend a one-year course at the National Defence College in Jinja.

“I have today officially handed over the Office of Defence Spokesperson to my Deputy Lt Col Ronald Kakurungu as I prepare to attend National Defence College. The function was presided over by UPDF JCOS Maj Gen Leopold Kyanda. I wish Lt Col Kakurungu the very best of luck,”she tweeted.

The Head of State House Anti-Corruption Unit, Col Edith Nakalema, and several Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) commanders above the rank of Colonel have been sent on a one-year training at the newly established National Defence College in Jinja District.
