President Yoweri Museveni is on Monday expected to visit bedridden Tamale Mirundi. He has been admitted at Kisubi Hospital for more than a week in a worrying condition.

The President, who last week directed his personal doctor to work with those of Kisubi Hospital in managing Mirundi, is expected to personally speak to the latter and assess his medical condition himself. Mr Museveni has even directed State House to pay all the medical bill.

This was after it emerged that the family had resolved to transfer Mirundi to Nairobi for further treatment. However, sources say the family, on the advice of the doctors, have resolved to first ensure that he recovers lost energy after being found severely dehydrated. It has also emerged that he is suffering from typhoid.

Mirundi’s elder brother Jones Ssali Sembuya said in an interview with a local website that the former’s health condition has improved.

“I last saw him on Saturday and his medical condition is not worrying. Just continue praying for him,” Sembuya said.

Sources close the family further revealed that they fear that Mirundi’s medical condition was exacerbated by his earlier refusal to visit several medical facilities such as IHK and Nakasero for medication as he feared that his enemies would penetrate the systems there and harm him.

They are concerned that Mirundi overworks himself, spending almost the entire day visiting different radio and TV stations where he is hosted. Mirundi has controversially become a vocal critic of most government officials whom he accuses of being corrupt.
