The Bunyoro region came alive on Friday night with a vibrant celebration of artificial intelligence (AI), culture, and tourism as Nabukeera Janet was crowned Miss Tourism Bunyoro 2026/2027.

The colourful pageant, held on July 10, 2026, at HB Hotel in Hoima, attracted contestants and supporters from across the region. Hundreds of spectators filled the venue hours before the event began, creating an electric atmosphere marked by traditional music, cultural dance performances, and exhibitions that highlighted Bunyoro’s rich heritage.

Contestants, who had undergone an intensive boot camp ahead of the competition, impressed both the judges and the audience with their confidence, public speaking skills, and deep knowledge of tourism. They also demonstrated a strong commitment to preserving and promoting Bunyoro’s cultural identity, while showcasing leadership and advocacy skills gained during their training.

After hours of stiff competition, the pageant reached its climax shortly after midnight when Nabukeera Janet was announced the winner. She was crowned Miss Tourism Bunyoro 2026/2027, succeeding in a highly competitive field. Kaganzi Felishia Timbigamba emerged as the First Runner-Up, while Kemigisa Demitria was named Second Runner-Up.

The successful pageant left many optimistic about the future of tourism and cultural promotion in the region. Beyond celebrating beauty, the event underscored the importance of empowering young women to serve as ambassadors of culture and tourism, while showcasing Bunyoro as a key destination in Uganda’s tourism sector.

The newly crowned queens will now join winners from other regions to prepare for the national grand finale scheduled for September 4, 2026, at Kampala Serena Hotel.
