Netizens have been shocked by a circulating audio circulating on social media platforms alleging that president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is soon resigning from the top office.

According to the storyteller in the circulating audio, he alleges that Museveni said that he doesn’t own Uganda and that has done enough for the nation, so he will be handing over power to other people to takeover.

Museveni’s resignation rumors come a few days when a section of NRM youth leaders from Buganda region endorsed him as the sole presidential candidate for the 2026 elections.

However, the deputy press secretary to president Museveni Kirunda Faruk has trashed and denied the rumors saying that the president is still in charge and not tired at all.

Faruk also described the rumors as malicious, attributing it to the work of enemies of progress and stability.

The 78 year old president Museveni has been at the helm of Uganda’s highest office for 36years has not yet indicated whether he will stand for the highest office come 2026.

It should also be noted that there is a section of youth within the NRM party that has intensified efforts to front first son, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba as their candidate in 2026.
