President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has hailed Ugandan business magnate Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia as a patriotic investor and a symbol of national unity, attributing his success and contributions to Uganda’s rejection of sectarianism.

He emphasized that by abandoning divisions based on religion, tribe, and race, Uganda has created an environment where impactful individuals like Sudhir and other investors from across the world can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the country’s development.

“We got Sudhir and other patriotic investors because we rejected racism and tribalism,” Museveni said. “That’s how we brought together the Chinese, the Indians, the Arabs, and Africans from various countries who now see Uganda as a viable place for partnership and investment.”

The President went on to commend the vision of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), crediting its inclusive philosophy for fostering economic growth and attracting serious investors.

He noted that national unity not only ensures peace but also strengthens Uganda’s capacity to host international events and build sustainable development.

Museveni extended his appreciation to Dr. Sudhir for his unwavering commitment to Uganda, describing him as a “money magnet” whose success reflects the broader progress of the country.

He encouraged Ugandans to take full advantage of the global attention and opportunities created by Uganda’s role on the international stage.

“We must not only host successful conferences,” he said, “but also contribute to shaping the global agenda. South-South investment is already happening—it’s up to us to be part of it.”

He also praised other national leaders and contributors, urging continued unity, hard work, and patriotism as the foundation for future achievements.

It should also be remembered that during the NAM and G-77 + China summits, the President specifically commended prominent businessman Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia for his significant contributions, whose patriotic commitment symbolized the benefits of Uganda’s rejection of sectarianism.

“I thank Dr. Sudhir, Ms. Lucy Nakyobe and her team, as well as the ‘super supervisor’ Rt. Hon. Rukia Nakadama, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, and everyone else who played a role. Thank you very much,” President Museveni said in his remarks.
