Museveni Reappoints Justice Byabakama As EC Chairperson,Nominates Four New Members

The President of the Republic of Uganda Museveni has reappointed Justice Simon Byabakama as the chairperson of the Electoral Commission for another term.

H.E Museveni  has also nominated four new members to the commission.

The reappointed members include Hajjat Aisha Lubega as the Deputy Chairperson, Steven Tashobya, Robert Kasule Ssebunya, Dr. Sallie Simba Kayunga, Anthony Okello, and Pamela Etomu Okudi. Justice Byabakama’s reappointment comes after the expiry of his previous term on January 7, 2024.

The nominations and reappointments are part of the process of constituting the seven-member Electoral Commission, as stipulated in Article 60 of the Ugandan Constitution.

The nominees will undergo vetting by Parliament before their inauguration.
