Owoyesigyire Arrested For Murdering Wife,Three Children

Police in greater Bushenyi has in custody a 40-year-old man for allegedly killing his wife and three children.

The deceased are identified as Asanansi Musimenta, 28, and her children Andrew Akandwanaho, 4 years old, Javira Akanyijuka, 3 years old, and Davis Atwijukire, 2 months old.

SCP Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson, while speaking at the weekly security presser at Police Headquarters in Naguru on Monday, September 11, 2023, said that, the suspect is identified as Denis Owoyesigyire, a resident of Munyonyi two cell, Munyonyi parish, Katonda Sub County in Rubirizi district.

“It is alleged that the suspect arrived home from a drinking point and picked up a quarrel with his wife where he picked up a machete and heat his wife by the head, killing her instantly,” Enanga said.

He noted that, the suspect resorted to his children and used the same machete for killing his other two children, then picked a younger child, smashed him on the head and killed him instantly.

Enanga confirmed that, the suspect managed to escape to his father’s home where the police followed him and arrested him, adding that, he is now in custody for further investigation while the bodies were taken to Rugazi Health Centre IV for postmortem.

The police has reported that there is an increase in domestic violence amongst Ugandan, mostly in rural areas.
