President Yoweri Museveni, the Commander in Chief of the army, has reappointed Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye as Defense and Army Spokesperson, a position he served in, between 2005- 2013.

He replaces Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso who is set to attend a one-year course at National Defence College, Jinja. Byekwaso has served for one and a half years.

Kulayigye welcomed the news of his appointment saying; “Yes it’s true I have been appointed the Defence Spokesperson and I want to thank the CIC for yet again entrusting me with this opportunity to serve the army.”

Kulayigye joined UPDF in 1989, after completing his first university degree. He saw combat in Northern Uganda against the Lord’s Resistance Army. While there, he served as a platoon commander. Later, from 2005 to 2013, he served as the UPDF Spokesperson.

Still, later, he served as the Chief Political Commissar. In 2016, he was elected to serve as a Member of Parliament representing the UPDF in the 10th Parliament (2016 to 2021).
