President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has postponed the awaited Presidential Address on COVID-19, which was slated to happen on Monday May 18, 2020.

President Yoweri Museveni had announced that he will address the nation about the country’s fight against the Coronavirus pandemic but due to ungovernable circumstances, the address has been pushed to tomorrow Tuesday May 19, 2020, at 8:00pm.

The revelation was made by Senior Press Secretary to the President Don Wanyama, who tweeted on Monday afternoon thus; “The 14th Presidential Address by  @KagutaMuseveni  on Covid-19 which was slated for today has been postponed to tomorrow, Tuesday 19th, at 8pm. We regret any inconveniences.”

He however didn’t divulge details or give reasons as to why the Presidential address has since been postponed.

However, the development comes shortly after the Minister for Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng announced that  Uganda has so far registered 227 cases of COVID-19, after 21 tests from truck drivers tested positive on Sunday.

The Health Ministry also revealed on Monday that despite the increase in the number of infections, Uganda has not registered any COVID-19 deaths and the best news is that so far the country has recorded 63 recoveries.

Officials from the Ministry of Health urge Ugandans to continue implementing the Health Guidelines which include washing hands frequently with soap or sanitizer, avoiding to touch one’s eyes, nose and mouth, staying home and wearing a face mask whenever in public, plus reporting any suspected COVID-19 cases to the nearest police or health authorities.
