President Yoweri Museveni will tonight at 8pm address the country on efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and outline new measures to ease the lock-down.

The Minister for ICT Ms. Judith Nabakooba said President will guide the nation on the next steps to be taken before the current extended lockdown ends on June 4.

“H.E president @KagutaMuseveni will address the nation on matters regarding #COVID19 and the way forward, on Monday, June 1,2020 @ 8pm.
#StaySafeUG,” she wrote.

The President is expected to announce further lifting of the lockdown as the country works to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Museveni directed that public transport (buses, mini buses, taxis) would resume after proper preparation on June 4 but each will carry half of their loading capacity and Private cars have since returned on the road.

In the last address, the president opened for the undergraduate finalists, Postgraduate finalists, finalists in the Tertiary institutions, candidates at P.7, S.4 and S6 levels.

However, there is fear that the president might tighten the lockdown after announcing a record 84 cases which were confirmed on May 30, as Uganda’s total Coronavirus cases shot to 417.
