Major Gen. Francis Takirwa, the deputy commander of the Land Force, has cautioned Uganda Police Defense (UPDF) soldiers to refrain from living a larger life.

He says soldiers should stop reckless spending and prioritize saving to secure their futures.

Takirwa advised the officers to adopt financial discipline that requires massive savings before their retirement.

Maj. Gen. Takirwa made this appeal during the handover ceremony of the first Infantry Division Commander at the Division headquarters in Kakiri, Wakiso District, which saw Brig. Gen. Joseph Ssemwanga handed over to Brigadier General Steven Mugerwa.

The ceremony was attended by the senior and junior officers of the UPDF, Uganda Police Force representatives, and prominent members of the civilian community, including Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), head teachers, and community chairpersons.

He guided the incoming Division Commander, Brig. Mugerwa, to be exemplary in his leadership in order to achieve the best results.

Brigadier Mugerwa called for teamwork from both the new commander and existing staff as a requisite for a seamless transition.
