In a statement issued by the Health Ministry on April 22, 2020, none of the deceased Ugandans that were brought into the country from the Middle East had succumbed to covid19. According to Dr. Henry Mwebesa, the director general of Health Services at the ministry of Health, the cause of the death of the individual from Dubai, UAE was an accident. The body arrived at Entebbe International Airport on Saturday April 18 and he was buried safely, Dr. Mwebesa said. The body was the from Doha, Qatar was of a person who died of Acute Respiratory Syndrome. The body arrived at the Airport on Sunday April 19 and was received by A-Plus and two relatives of the deceased, Dr. Mwebesa said in a statement. “On learning of the incident, the ministry of health and Uganda Red Cross teams took over the burial ceremonies from A-Plus and accorded the deceased a safe and dignified ceremonies… in Kayunga district,” reads the statement. On Sunday President Museveni warned that no one is allowed to bring dead bodies with in the country, more so when they have died of Covid-19 related cases “Let no one bring any bodies of people that have died of Covid-19 to Uganda. Whoever dies of Covid-19 outside Uganda should be buried there, you can also choose to cremate them, but let no one bring the bodies here. Likewise, Ugandans who die as a result of coronavirus will be buried by the state with proper health precautions and procedure,” he said.){kind=link}
