Resourceful! Inside Ruparelia Group’s 6 New Multi-billion Projects

The management of Ruparelia Group of Companies under the chairmanship of Dr Sudhir Ruparelia is currently undertaking a cluster of 6 projects at a cost of hundreds of billions of Uganda shillings.

Ruparelia group is owned by Sudhir, Uganda’s richest businessman with his son Rajiv Ruparelia as the managing director.

The 6 projects include; extension of Kabira Hotel in Bukoto. The hotel will have a shopping mall complex attached.

Pearl businessman park, Kingdom Kampala Hotel, Sese Resort Beach, Paradise Resort and the construction of Convention center.

These projects once completed will be added to a conglomerate of other businesses under Ruparelia group some of which are; Speke Apartments, Speke Resort Munyonyo, Bukoto Heights, Kampala Parents School, Kampala International School of Uganda, Meera Investments, among many others.

INSIDE THE NEW PROJECTS

Pearl Business Park

Ruparelia Group kicked off the construction of multibillion magnificent Pearl Business Park, a mega project with an estimated 15 months scheduled timeline from the onset of construction to completion.

The structure is already on 6 floor.

Pearl Business Park will encompass office premises, a shopping centre, health and leisure amenities, a 5-star hotel, modern hospital, among other things.  Ruparelia Group, through Meera Investments Limited, is building the 18-acre mixed-use facility on the premises of the former Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) headquarters on Yusuf Lule Road in Kampala.

Ruparelia Group will divide the project into different phases. The first phase completion estimate is 2023, including office spaces, 16 lettable floors and two floors for parking.

The plan is to equip the facility with modern amenities such as a fully automated fire detection system on all floors and approximately 170 CCTV cameras in all public areas. In addition, the building will include internet access, a fitness centre and other health, safety and productivity utilities.

Paradise Resort

Known for possessing many land titles inside and outside Kampala, Ruparelia Group also own some islands inside L. Victoria.

And the Group last year kicked off construction of Paradise Resort on one of the islands.

The resort has started taking shape with a number of cottages erected awaiting to be furnished fully.

The works are still ongoing and the project is likely to be fully completed by end of this year.

Convention Center

Dr Sudhir Ruparelia is undertaking this new project together with the government of Uganda.

The government and the businessman are finalising a joint venture blueprint to build a modern Convention Centre at Commonwealth Speke Resort Munyonyo to host the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit later next year.

The architectural designs and bill of quantities for the engineering works are still being prepared, but the construction is estimated to cost $40m (Shs140b).

NAM summit, comprises 120 countries that are not aligned to any of the rival eastern and western power blocs and it was founded during the Asian-Africa meeting in Bandung, Indonesia, in 1955.  In its early years, NAM pursued decolonisation.

Expansion of Kabira

Currently, there is a lot of construction activity at Kabira Hotel with a mega structure being set up.

Once is completed it will house a shopping mall, car parking and offices.

Kampala Kingdom Hotel

Ruparelia Group intends to kick start this mega project in 2023. The management has finalized plans to have Kingdom Kampala Hotel erected in the middle of the city along Nile Avenue just adjacent to other multibillion skyscraper-Kingdom Kampala.

Dr Sudhir unveiled the artistic impression of mega- million-dollar project last year.

“We are going to start building this hotel project at Kingdom Kampala from 2023 and finish in 2026. The hotel will Be known as Kingdom Kampala Hotel,” Sudhir told this website.

The hotel will have 200 rooms including suites and penthouses plus 226 very high End Apartments with a Built up area of 110,000 square meters. It will also have 35 conference rooms.

Kingdom Kampala is located in the heart of Kampala. This property is located between three main roads- Nile avenue, Yusuf Lule Road and Dewinton Road in the Central Business District and offers rare exclusivity and outstanding luxury.

Ssese Resort Beach

The Ruparelia Group kick started the construction of Ssese Gateway Beach Hotel, a multibillion five-star hotel in 2020

The construction of the $100m (Shs366b) establishment that will have hotel rooms, conference and conversion centres at Katinda, on Kampala-Entebbe Road, about 30km from the capital.

The hotel with at least 350 rooms, will be constructed in a period of three years.

Mr Sudhir said the facility will sit on a 20- acre land and that it will be a state-of-the art in the area to give Ugandans and foreigners a new option in the areas of accommodation, meals and beverages, conferences and meetings.
