Police has placed a Shs20 million bounty on whoever provides information leading to the arrest of suspects behind the shooting of Pastor Aloysius Bugingo’s vehicle, leading to the killing of his bodyguard, Cpl. Richard Muhumuza.

On Tuesday last week, unknown assailants traveling on a motorcycle sprayed bullets at Bugingo’s vehicle at around 9 p.m. along Namungona, Zone 2 , Kasubi Rubaga Division in Kampala. Speaking on Monday, January 8, 2024, police spokesperson Fred Enanga disclosed that the Special Investigations Division of the Criminal Investigations Directorate at Kibuli had taken over investigations into the shooting.

Although Bujingo survived with minor injuries, his bodyguard Richard Muhumuza died on the spot. The incident happened at Buwalakata road junction, Namungona, in Lubaga Division in Kampala.

Police and intelligence, and military arrived at the scene, locals had tampered with the scene and nothing much could be collected as exhibits.

This has left police with the only option of using CCTV cameras to identify the assassins’ movement.

Muhumuza was laid to rest on Friday 5th January at Lwebitakuli Village in Sembabule District.
