A South Sudanese woman who went missing a week ago from Bidibidi refugee settlement, has been found dead.

Mr Moses Olang, the Yumbe District Police Commander identified the deceased as Mary Naka.

“The body of Naka which was decomposing was found covered with grass in the bush by some women who went to collect fire wood. Our preliminary investigations indicate that she was raped before she was murdered,” he said.

Mr Olang said that no suspect has so far been arrested in connection to the matter, but investigations are ongoing.

In a separate incident, a 13-year-old girl identified as Foster Ojikuru from Olobiyo village, Midigo Sub County in Yumbe District was also brutally murdered by unknown people.

Mr Olang said Ojikuru was raped and later strangled to death to destroy evidence.

“Relatives of the deceased reported the matter to police but the girl was found dead in the bush. Medical reports indicate that the girl was raped by a group of people and then strangled to death,” he said.

Mr Olang said the neck of the dead juvenile was found broken but the suspects are still at large.
