The National Unity Platform party President Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine has dropped John Baptist Nambeshe as Opposition Chief Whip to the Public Accounts Committee and Mathias Mpuuga from Leader of Opposition (LOP) to Commissioner of Parliament, replacing Francis Zaake.

According to sources NUP’s leadership held a meeting during the weekend and notable changes were made, which saw some bigwigs dropped and others promoted, like Joel Ssenyonyi from COSASE, to LOP.

”Nambeshe was moved from Opposition Chief Whip in Parliament to Public Account( PAC) Committee, a position he didn’t welcome in good faith, he stormed out of the meeting and made angry remarks, claiming Bobi Wine is unfair and selfish,” said the sources.

It is claimed that Nambeshe wondered what type of leader would make such drastic changes without consulting the persons concerned in advance; he claims to have been taken by surprise.

The sources added that, Nambeshe also complained of having been led on by Bobi Wine, to think that, he would make him the next LOP, only to discover he was being demoted instead.

The sources also indicated that Nambeshe said that Bobi Wine is not interested in taking the struggle forward, as his actions are different from what he claims, and dropping them from previous posts indicates that he is on a different mission.

Mpuuga on his part, is claimed to have remained reserved concerning the changes, it is said that he just kept nodding to whatever Kyagulanyi said.

However, Patrick Wakida a political analyst, said that Mpuuga has made his mark, his style of politics and handling challenging situations are far above NUP’s’ and he would indeed be missed as LOP.

“With his connections and experience Mpuuga does not need NUP, actually NUP’ has lost a level-headed politician, who can debate and urge matters amicably, so demoting him is a blessing in disguise, he will expand and grow his power without the watchful eye of Kyagulunyi and we all know what will happen next,” said Wakida.

Social Media had been awash with stories of the next LOP with different names popping up, finally, Joel Ssenyonyi has emerged as the winner, replacing Mpuuga, whether he is up to the challenge, time will tell.(ex)
