The Ruparelia family has announced plans to construct a landmark real estate project, Inara Tower, after Rajiv Ruparelia’s only daughter, Inara, as part of a deeply emotional tribute to their late son, who died in a tragic car accident on May 3, 2025.

The announcement was made during Rajiv’s cremation ceremony held on Tuesday, May 06, at the Hindu Crematorium in Lugogo, where his mother Jyotsna Ruparelia, in a tearful eulogy, promised to fulfil her son’s dream of building a tower in his daughter’s name.

“Rajiv, I know your greatest love was Inara (Rajiv’s daughter and only child); you were dying for Inara, you did so much for Inara, and I promise you, Sudhir and I, till we are alive, will take care of Inara. You wanted an Inara tower for Inara, and that will be our next project. We are going to look after Inara,” Jyotsna said as she remembered her son’s charisma, compassion, and independence.

“I am so proud of you, Rajiv. People come to us and say, You have been educating people. I know you like to do a lot of charity, and we are going to carry on with your charity.”

The teary Jyotsna described Rajiv’s spirited personality, his mischief, love for family, and insistence on forging his own identity beyond being the son of one of Uganda’s wealthiest men.

Her most painful regret: not being with him the night he died.

“I wish on Friday night, I didn’t leave you at Izumi and I came clubbing with you… I would not have allowed you to go into that speedy car,” she said through sobs.

Rajiv’s dad, Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, visibly shaken, hailed his son as a brilliant, loving, and socially committed son.

He recalled fond memories of fishing together, his passionate involvement in motorsports, and his tireless efforts to support underprivileged children.

“Rajiv was the light of our family—a source of joy and unforgettable memories. This is a loss beyond words,” he said.

Sudhir also emphasized Rajiv’s philanthropic legacy, citing his sponsorship of child talents like Fresh Kid and Felista at Kampala Parents’ School, and his belief in uplifting others quietly and consistently.

The proposed Inara Tower is expected to be a multibillion-shilling development and an enduring legacy under the Ruparelia Group’s expansive real estate portfolio.

The tower joins an empire that, as of December 2024, included 20 active companies and properties in Uganda and commercial interests in Rwanda, South Sudan, the UK, and the UAE.

The Group’s notable ventures include:

  1. Speke Resort and Conference Centre & Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo,
  2. Kabira Country Club, Kampala Parents’ School, Victoria University, Meera Investments, and Sanyu FM 88.2,
  3. Premier Roses and Rosebud Ltd in Entebbe,
  4. And real estate projects currently underway like Pearl Business Park, Arie Towers in Nakasero, and Paradise Island Resort on Lake Victoria.

Tuesday’s cremation at Lugogo was attended by high-ranking dignitaries, including Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi, Prince David Wasajja of Buganda Kingdom, and several members of the Kwagalana Group.

The proposed Inara Tower, once completed, will serve not only as a tribute to Rajiv’s daughter but as a symbolic continuation of his vision and impact.
