At least three passengers were confirmed dead after two buses reportedly collided at Kachumbala in Bukedea district on Wednesday morning.

The Gateway bus was on its way from Moroto to Kampala when it had a head-on collision with the Soroti-bound Wonagon Bus.

The grisly incident occurred at around midnight.

Eyewitnesses said many passengers sustained life-threatening injuries.

Good Samaritans who rushed to the scene used axes to extract bleeding passengers from the wreckage of the buses.

Police are expected to release more details about the accident later this morning.
