Police in Matugga have launched a murder investigation following the fatal stabbing of a traditional healer during a bar altercation in the early hours of Thursday, May 8.

The victim, 45-year-old Bisobolwa Isa, was reportedly killed by 18-year-old Mutyaba Richard after the two engaged in a heated disagreement over Shs 2,000. Both men had been seen drinking together the previous night at Mama Naka Bar in Kito Cell, Matugga.

According to initial reports from the police, the argument escalated into a fight around 1:20 AM, during which Mutyaba is believed to have stabbed Bisobolwa twice  once in the neck and once in the abdomen. Although the injured man was quickly taken to Wanda Health Centre for medical assistance, he was declared dead upon arrival.

Mutyaba fled the scene immediately after the incident, and police say he is still on the run. The case has been registered as murder, with crime scene documentation completed and the body transferred to Mulago Mortuary for a postmortem.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, SSP Patrick Onyango, confirmed the incident and assured the public that efforts are underway to track down the suspect.

“This is an unfortunate loss of life triggered by a trivial disagreement,” Onyango stated. “We are committed to ensuring the suspect is apprehended and justice is served.”

Local residents expressed shock over the violent incident and have appealed to authorities to enhance safety measures in the area.
