Kampala’s nightlife has been thrown into turmoil following the sudden death of a young woman identified as Martha at Mezo Noir, a popular club. Witnesses report that she collapsed after consuming alcohol, prompting a police probe into the circumstances surrounding her demise.

Speculation is rife that Martha may have been drugged before her death. Surveillance footage allegedly shows her entering an office within the club alongside a man believed to be connected to the establishment. Moments later, the man reportedly rushed out in distress and sought help from others.

Sources indicate that the group used a side exit to transport Martha to a hospital, where medical personnel pronounced her dead on arrival. The incident has led to multiple arrests as authorities work to uncover the truth.

Investigators are yet to release an official statement, but pressure is mounting for transparency. A postmortem is expected to provide clarity on the cause of death, as members of the public and Kampala’s nightlife community demand justice.

Mezo Noir, which recently announced a temporary closure citing “unforeseen circumstances,” is now at the center of intense scrutiny. Many are calling for a thorough investigation into the club’s operations and management practices.

By the time of reporting, a vigil was underway at Kembabazi Restaurant in Naguru as family, friends, and mourners gathered to pay their respects.
