The Uganda People’s Congress UPC has assured the public that they are to field a candidate for Dokolo Woman Member of Parliament by elections to replace the late Hon. Cecil Barbra Atim Ogwal who passed on early this year.

Addressing the media at the party headquarters in Kampala, the party head of media and communications Faizo Muzeyi said they will also field candidates for the by election of the Local government councils and special interest groups in Dokolo districts.

“At the moment, the UPC national leadership is working hand in hand with the local leadership to organize the Dokolo district conference that will produce the UPC, flag bearers for all vacant elective positions as declared by the Independent Electoral Commission.

As UPC, we believe that party shall unveil and present strong flag bearers for nominations scheduled for 11th-12th March 2024 and we are confident that they will deliver victory to UPC” said Faizo Muzeyi.

It should be noted that IEC set 18th, March, 2024 and 21st, march, 2024 respectively as the days to hold the elections.

In the same way, as the country sets to commemorate the Martyrdom of the late Arch-bishop Janan Luwum on Friday this week, the opposition Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party has appealed to the politicians, religious leaders among others to always be brave as Jonan Luwum was to transform the country.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni declared February 16 a public holiday in honour of Janan Luwum who was killed on February 16, 1977.

Faizo Muzeyi noted that Janan Luwum’s leadership focused not only on preaching and spreading the Word of God, but also on the holistic development of people and communities who repeatedly appealed to Ugandans to live together peacefully and in harmony.

Muzeyi added that during the leadership of Janan Luwum, he sacrificed himself and stood firm against all undemocratic excess including abductions, torture and death of people as well as preaching against human rights abuses by the army and security organs and making physical follow ups to various detention centers across the country which centers used to be no go areas to the member of the public.

UPC thus called upon the citizenry to fully emulate his character that stood for a bigger picture of humanity and practiced liberation theology in the true sense of it.trusted
