Pastor Aloysius Bugingo, who was rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital after being attacked by unknown gunmen in Kampala, is out of danger.

Officials who visited Bugingo on Tuesday night said he was “responding well to treatment,” emphasising, “He is now out of danger.”

Bugingo, who is the Director of House of Prayer Ministries International, was attacked as he approached Total fuel station, Namungoona, Kampala district.

He was rushed to Mulago where doctors were able to stabilise him.

Police officials said they had already started the hunt for the perpetrators of the crime.

The law enforcement body is expected to release a detailed statement on circumstances under which gunmen attacked Bugingo.

High profile government officials and muslim clerics have previously been attacked by armed gunmen in different parts of the country.

Bugingo is a strong supporter of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) leader and President, Yoweri Museveni.

The Director of Salt Media Group of Companies regularly uses his pulpit to criticise the opposition while at the same time rallying support for Museveni and presidential hopeful Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
