Uganda Police Force is investigating circumstances where a 40-year-old man is alledgedly accused of killing his biological father over land.

Sanon Mutwalume is on a run after he reportedly killed his father Samuel Mutwalume, 85, following a disagreement that erupted after the sale of their family land in Iganga district, Eastern Uganda.

Bilali Waiswa, the LCI Chairman of Namungalwe rural, the village where the tragedy occurred, said that the son had demanded to have his share of the money obtained from the land sale. But his father rejected his demand, and out of anger, the son hit him with a club.

He died on arrival at Namungalwe Health Centre IV, where he had been rushed by neighbours.

Salome Nagudyo, one of the area resident explains that Sanon failed to accept his father’s plan to use the proceeds from the land sale to treat his persistent feet disorder. She says the father equally sold another plot of land two years ago to pay for his hospital bills.
Iganga District Police Commander David Ndawula said that the police are hunting for the son adding that different police officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department have been dispatched to investigate the matter.
