Old Kampala Police are investigating an attempted suicide by burning of Edgar Kyamunywa, 40, a resident of Masanafu Zone Bukulugi.

The incident happened on Wednesday evening at around 9pm.

Deputy Kampala metropolitan spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire revealed that victim  was later rushed to the hospital at Kiriddu, but in critical condition.
“Police have kicked off investigations into the matter to ascertain what exactly made him attempt suicide.
However, some of his children have intimated that he had promised to burn himself in front of a gate of a woman who had continuously rejected him for a boyfriend”he said.

This makes it a second incident of suicide by burning this week for reason connected to rejection.
Police however, advised Ugandans to remain calm whenever they are in such situation and seek help from experts.
